The city of Šabac is situated in the northern part of north-west Serbia. This geographical position is very favorable as it places the municipality at the intersection of main land, rail, and water ways and close to big urban centers such as Belgrade and Novi Sad.
Šabac municipality spreads across 795 km2 and has 122.320 inhabitants. The main economic potentials include fertile agricultural land and waters of the rivers Sava and Drina, which contribute to multiple trades - industry, water industry, agriculture, fluvial traffic and tourism. The city of Šabac has always been the economic and cultural centre of Podrinje and the wider area.
